You’ve probably heard the phrase, “dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” The same principle applies to colors. Wearing an outfit in your power color will make you feel more confident and capable, whether or not it has anything to do with what you are actually doing that day.

What is a power color ?

You may have heard of the power color. The power color is the one you feel most powerful in, and it can help you feel more confident, relaxed and even happier.

The power color is a term that originated in a book called Color Your Way to Success by Dr. John Hartley, who first defined it as:

“What colour makes you feel more powerful? What colour makes you feel more relaxed?”

Which color best fits you?

To find out which color best fits you, there are two ways.

  • The first way is to use the color wheel. This can be found online and shows all of the colors of the rainbow and how they relate to each other. It also has helpful explanations that can help you decide what your best colors are based on their relationships with one another.
  • The second way is to take a color test. Color tests have been designed to determine which shades of blue or green work best for different people in different situations, depending on their personality traits and preferences.

The meanings of color.

In the article, you'll learn the meanings behind each color. You'll also discover how to use this knowledge in your everyday life to boost your personal brand and make a positive impression on others.

Color is a very powerful tool. It can be used to influence people, create certain feelings, and even generate an impression about you as a person. In today's world where everything is fast-paced and digitalized, it's important to stand out from the crowd by using color effectively in branding yourself online or offline so that people remember you for who you are rather than what they see first (your profile pic).

What is your power color?

You can use color to establish a positive impression and boost your chances of success.

Understanding the power of color and what it means in terms of how people perceive you will help you select the right colors for yourself and others.

You may want to know what your power color is, so that when you go shopping or looking for a new job, clothes that fit with that particular shade will be easy to find.

Colors have meanings associated with them. And these meanings are universal across cultures.[1]

Wearing the right color can have an impact

There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to the power of colors. For example, many people believe that wearing red will make them appear more attractive or confident. However, this isn’t true at all! Red doesn't make people appear more attractive, but it does have the ability to influence how people perceive you.

It's important to know that colors can change depending on where you are and who you're with. For example: If your company is based in San Francisco and has an office in New York City, then red may be seen as powerful and commanding in one city but flamboyant or over-the-top in another city (or even on different days).

The best way for someone new to color psychology would be by starting small – first by focusing on themselves before branching out into other areas such as social media marketing or advertising campaigns (or even just personal branding).

Color can be used to influence perceptions.

Color can be used to influence perceptions. It can create an impression and make people feel a certain way, or it can create a mood and feeling. Color can even make us feel comfortable or uncomfortable based on the associations we have with certain colors.

The color red is associated with action, power and passion.

Green represents growth, new ideas and vitality.

Brown? It’s sensible and dependable, but also seen as dull.

People associate the color pink with compassion, understanding and warmth. And when guys wear it they seem more communicative.

Wealth, prosperity and luxury are three words that come to mind when gold is worn.

Black is sophisticated and classic, but it can also seem depressing or intimidating. They recommend adding a splash of color when you wear black.

Projecting authority and creativity through purple is a great way to make an impression.

A white outfit can communicate that you're someone who's honest and sincere.

Navy inspires confidence, success, and trust. Blue is the best color for business—and if you wear navy to an interview, you’re more likely to get hired.

Colors are powerful tools and can help you make the right impression.

The colors you choose can affect the moods and emotions of others. When you wear a color, it subtly sends messages about who you are to those around you. That's why it's important to understand the impact colors have on people and how they use their power for good or bad.

Color is powerful whether we're aware of it or not! We all know that certain colors make us feel one way or another—we can't help but get excited when we see bright red, cozy up in a soft pink blanket, shiver when we look at cold blues like aqua blue (the same shade as our oceans), feel calm when we look at navy blue (the same shade as our oceans), etc.

Color is powerful, and it can be used for good or for evil. However, the most important thing is not to let color influence your emotions too much. Your emotions are what make you who you are and they shouldn't be influenced by the colors around them.

This blouse is lovely, but it is a little tight across the buts area. If you are large busted, you need to go up a size. Additionally, it was delivered in a clear package, for everyone to see what you are buying, and it was in a ball, from being jostled!

I loved the pattern, fit, color but it was a purchase for work. It was transparent and it was not work appropriate. I would wear it casually with jeans, it’s beautiful.

The sleeves are sheer the rest of the shirt is not. That is definitely one of the things I liked about it. There was no bra showing through my shirt. I love the color. I love the fabric. However the shirt is a little long and kind of looks like a sack hanging off of you if you are a woman with any amount of ample bosom. I am 5’5, wear size 16 women’s shirt, and am a size 42c with a hour glass figure. And the way the shirt hangs off my chest and hips isn’t very flattering for my midsection. On that note I’m sure the shirt looks great on many other figures. I ended up giving it to my friend that is 5’8. It looks great on her.

I didn’t buy this thinking it would be stretchy. It’s sheer, light, and blousy and the color is on point. I love it and this is coming from someone who has NO patterned tops in her wardrobe. It is vibrant without being loud and the pattern pairs with everything. The sleeves have elastic at the wrists so you can push them up and wear this blouse as a 3/4 sleeve top. It has a 1/4 drop seem at about the bicep line which gives it a modern look. It hangs straight down, no not fitted, and not overly baggy, just loose and comfortable. I am very small-busted so there’s LOTS of room up top. I imagine it would fit a fairly well-endowed woman quite easily. 🙂

This one ended up being a no for me.The pros: the quality of the fabric was impressive and nicer than I expected when I ordered it. I only tried it on briefly but in that short time I didn’t get any impression that the sleeves would be itchy or anything like that. It really looks great in person. The cons: I just don’t think it’s right for my body type. I ordered a medium but I didn’t feel like I had any shape in it. I was just swimming in a big sweater that was fancier than it should have been for the shape. Im a short, pear-shaped, average sized (5’1, weight currently in the 170s, C cup) person and it just didn’t do anything for me but I worry that sizing down would be too uncomfortable/tight in the arms/shoulders etc.If you’re similar in my shape and these photos give you a “but that’s how I want it to look” then go for it! This top was definitely a good quality (at least for the brief time I kept it.) but it just wasn’t a fit that I thought I would end up wearing enough to justify keeping.

has no give so a no little stiff but the pattern is pretty and it is comfortable aside from the sleeves. Maybe if I order a size up from my usual it will be a bit looser in the sleeves. Overall I will order again!

I’ve already bought 7 blouses from this brand and in this style. The chiffon is not see through but of a good weight. It’s silky against the skin and has a lovely drape. The stitching and cut are well done, which is surprising at times when shopping for off brands on Amazon. So good to find quality made clothing at an affordable price! I am 5’2″, 143lbs, 38B bust and 33″ waist. I’m 68 years old, but I still want to look pretty and well put together. I chose to get the XL because I hate that cling-to-my-lumps look. I did purchase one blouse in L, and the V neck opening gapes ever so slightly. The XL is loose and roomy, but I don’t have to keep tugging and fussing over it. I highly recommend wearing silicon shoulder pads (sold on amazon), if you have sloped or narrow shoulders like I do. You’d be surprised how much better your clothes will fit and hang on your body. I got compliments for the Khaki colored blouse which paired with black ponte leggings and a gun metal statement necklace. Grandma looked nice! -:). Highly recommend. Shoulder pads are a must though.

There is little to no stretch in this, so if you are in between sizes, go up. Overall I like this top. I’ve gotten lots of compliments when I wear it to work. The neckline isn’t too low and its long enough to wear in a professional setting. The colors are a little different than pictured, but it is still pretty. It’s a nice top for a reasonable price.

I like this shirt. I am 5 foot 3, 135 lbs 32ddd and I ordered a small. Normally small shirts fit me well, but this one is a LITTLE restrictive in the arms. Not unbearable but if you have a larger bust or arms, maybe size up. I’ll keep this but I don’t love this shirt enough to give 5 stars.

Although others have said this fits as expected, it’s a little snug compared to any other shirts of the same type that I have. The shoulders are just a little tight, but the chest is very tight. This isn’t a shirt with any ‘give’, so the result is funny looking breasts. The fabric is gorgeous and it’s a good length, but I have large breasts, so I don’t expect to wear this one.I’m SURE it is beautiful on a smaller breasted woman.

It ended up being very high neck, difficult closure, and lace isn’t very comfortable. Billowy lace sleeves get caught on things easily like jewelry. Rest of fabric snags easily. It’s not ugly, but I wish I didn’t buy it. It looks SO much more flattering on the model. On me, it fits like a raglan baseball tee…shoulders look big from the way the sleeve is cut. I bought it in Olive Green and the color is accurately represented in the photo. Maybe it would look better on a tiny framed girl, but I’m curvy and busty, and I don’t think it does me any favors. I probably should have returned it, but I didn’t realize it wasn’t a hit until I had already worn it once.

Bought this for an anniversary trip outfit. It overall was pretty nice, but I didn’t like how tight it was up around my chest and arms. I’m not large chested or anything so this isn’t a problem I usually have. But it was wearable and still pretty!

…the button loop on the back broke before I got to wear it. Exchange was quick and easy, but now I have lost faith in the quality, maybe up to ten percent. BTAIM, it makes me look ten years younger so it all evens out. 5’3″ 130 lbs. size S fit loosely enough to camouflage my 30″ waist. Despite everything, would buy again.

I like the color and the white shirt collar with the pearls. The cut is weirdly short and it falls right by the belt if you wear jeans. A pretty short shirt. And it is also very tight around the neck and arms. On my arms there is no room to wiggle. It is completely tight around my arms. The zipper on the back doesn’t work easily. It doesn’t zip all the way to the top. You might need help to have someone else zip it for you or you have to pull real hard on it but I don’t recommend it – it might break the zipper. The material is polyester 95% so it probably won’t wrinkle as much but it is not an ideal breathing fabric. It is made in China as many fabrics are and this one feels very cheap. Kind of stiff feel but it might be a good thing not to wrinkle as you wear it. I recommend wearing this shirt if you are slim or medium build, not for size XL or XXL. The sizing runs a little on the smaller side. I got a large size but it feels like Medium or Small. If you have love handles the design hides them but you cannot lift your arms because your belly would be exposed. There is a defect on the shoulders where two corners are pointy and weirdly sticking out… other then that to summarize – buy one size larger, super tight around the arms, short cut, hides love handles, cheap polyester fabric which won’t wrinkle and must wash with cold water, zipper is hard to work with, protruding corners on the shoulders.
